Icky Twerp - Hero from Ft. Worth, TX in the 1960's
First of all, I enjoyed watching this. If you were a kid in the 1960's and lived in the Dallas - Ft.Worth area, you are probably familiar with Icky Twerp and watched his Slam Bang Theatre, a locally produced kids tv show. Icky performed skits with his sidekick gorillas and band between showings of the Three Stooges and popular cartoons of the time, shown early in the morning while we were eating breakfast and getting ready for school. The subject matter is close to my heart, and thats why I liked it. I probably would have given it 5-stars for that reason alone.
From a movie making perspective, it was really quite amateurish. Bad amateurish at that. The clips from Slam Bang Theatre looked like there was no restoration at all done to them and they were very grainy. I suspect on top of that, the movie editors put even more grain, snow and fuzz to give it an even older feel. Too much. There were a few interviews with coworkers and Mr. Camfields son, but not much more...
